About Podere della Bruciata
Podere della Bruciata is a family-scale estate in the hills of Montepulciano, Tuscany, producing around 25,000 bottles a year across 10 distinct Cru wines — each from its own recognisable terroir.
The estate has always been rooted in natural, sustainable viticulture: no pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or synthetic compounds are used, either in the vineyard or in the cellar.
The main grape is Sangiovese — here known as Prugnolo Gentile — the backbone of the Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, one of Italy's oldest appellations with over 600 years of history. Alongside it, small plots of Colorino, Canaiolo and rare ancient varieties like Pugnitello and Orpicchio are cultivated — grapes that predate Sangiovese in Tuscany and deserve to be rediscovered.
In the cellar, the philosophy is one of minimal intervention: only manual harvests, spontaneous fermentations with naturally occurring yeasts, long skin contact, and ageing in large barrels with light toasting so that wood enhances rather than masks. The wine is then given the time it needs in bottle — because, as they say here, a newly bottled Sangiovese is a restless young man, but with the right time it becomes a gentleman.
At Podere della Bruciata, wine is inseparable from land, tradition and conviviality. Good wine, good food, good company — that is always the best match.
